Red Jeep Club

These Trail run pages contain lots of pictures and details about different runs and events we have attended over the years. We don't mind hitting the trail with Jeeps, Trucks, Broncos and more. Many more trail runs that our club has taken over the past years, will be added as I get time. Some of these Utah Jeeping trips are from when we just jumped in the Red Jeep and headed out to see what we could see.

The Famous Rubicon Trail, Lake Tahoe NV.

This past summer we had an adventure and tried to go on the Rubicon, Let's just say I will live to conquer the Rubicon trail yet another day.

Here is a picture where we stopped for a stretch our legs break. We are on the side of the freeway at For Halleca Site. I took a picture of the sign for memory knowing I am loosing my memory, but the pictures is blurry so, I could say about anything you would just nod your head and thinks that's cool.

Here is my Jeep on the Tow Rigs trailer, towing the Jeep and the Jeep Trailer. If all that makes sense. My off road trailer is built within perfect specification to fit on my tow rig trailer with millimeters to spare. This is a 16 foot trailer, the Jeep is about 13 feet long and hanging over the front about 1 foot. The little trailer is 4 feet long at the box and the tongue is about 12 inches long plus the pintle hitch. You can see the rear of the trailer hangs over the back of the big trailer by about 12 inches. This setup worked great, but having a18 foot trailer would make things a lot easier.

Nice Sunset, on the Nevada Desert.

Once we got to Tahoe we met up with the Other Crazies in the Wasatch Outlaw Wheelers group. They were towing in style, we had two semi trucks with nine Jeeps loaded on the two Semi. This is a picture of one of them headed up the steep and winding road outside of South Lake Tahoe city, Headed for the Rubicon Trial starting point in California, near Loon Lake.

On the First Morning we were assigned to cook breakfast for all 30 people in the group. Here you can see we setup a feast and cooked a superb meal of Breakfast Burritos and eggs, and coffee.

I'm not sure what's up with the Deer in the Headlights look I got going on here. I guess when I am cooking, I am focused on infinity and the camera was not part of my serious mental state.

This is a fantastic shot of my trailer in action. I am using both wheel fender as designed, and I have the tail gate down and extended for a full width table. If you look very closely you can see the fine details of the Control Arm used to hold the lid in the open position. This expensive piece of wood that I once used to form concrete for the driveway. This brace will come in handy in about 10 hours as we strap it to the rear wheel of a Jeep TJ with a Broken Dana 35 C clip axle. The wood was used to help hold the tire in so we could get the Jeep off the Trail.

Here we go a following a long the happy trail. This is the first time we put tires to pavement and lined up in a row and said let's go.

Soon we were at Wentworth Spring, Campground in the Eldorado National Forest. Of the California, on the actual "Rubicon Trail" Don't took now but we are about to trail rated.

Then tell him to get out.

Nice Picture, in This Photo you can see my Trailer happily tucked up behind my Jeep towing along like it was made to be there. We it was made to be there so I guess all is well. See the nice little spot for a cooler on the front of the tongue.

Here we see another proud member of the Red Jeep Club, bounding along like a spry spring chicken. Mr "Vak Ada". Larry has some serious style and fashion going on here, he was prepared enough to match the tone, texture, and color of with his Jeep and the luggage in this super cool custom roof rack. Talk about "Accessorizing"

Everyone liked my Trailer so much they wanted to tow it. (Or the real truth is, I busted my front ring and pinion, and turned into a charity case and needed a support crew to get me out)

This is a picture from the first set of obstacles, where we put some serious hurt of 4 Jeep. We busted a rear Dana 35 C-clip axle and fixed it. We blew a ring and pinion out of a Samaria, and a front ring and pinion out of my Jeep Wrangler TJ. We thought we would go on with just two wheel drive and hooked the trailer to another Jeep in the group.

We made it to the cool and fancy sign and took some pictures. A hour or so later disaster struck and we blew the rear axle out of another Dana 35 C-clip axle. Uggg I don't like Dana 35 axles, but how could I complain I was already broken.

At this point we hooked the trailer up to Larry, and planned our retreat from the Rubicon.

We fashioned a High lift jack handle and my 2 x 4 stud to the outside of the Wheel on the broken dana 35 and slowly limped back to the trail head about 7 miles away. This process was slow but it worked. We got my Jeep, my trailer, the Samaria, and the Broken axle TJ all back to the camp in one piece it was late, around midnight but all was well.
